I have been thinking of you so much during the past few days that I begin to feel troubled thereby and cannot refrain from sending a word of inquiry. Although you owe me already one or two letters - I hope you are not sick my dear, do take care of your health, it is everything; without it prosperity itself pales, and life's best opportunities lack flavor - In a day or
two I am going to the city to be tortured by the dentist. I think dentists should be paid out of the United states Treasury - it is so hard to take the money you had hoped to decorate your head with and hide it away in a couple of cavities in your lower jaw-painfully hide it away -
I say government should look into the matter, and make a suitable appropriation It would be a small item for Uncle Sam, and it is a big thing for me.
I shall make my stay in town as short as possible
as I have not yet screwed up a summer wardrobe, and the weather after this storm of many days will probably be hot.
More than a week has past since I took my pen in hand, one thing after another has come between me and finishing this epistle to you- I have not been able to get to the city & my teeth are going the way of all teeth I presume- Greatly to my grief Mother has been afflicted with a disease called eczema - it is a general eruption and inflammation of the cuticle - on head
and body and limbs-altogether dreadful to be borne - but dear mother is so patient and heroic when she is ill, she quite shames me.-I think this morning (Tuesday the 29th of June) that the inflammation is subsiding somewhat, an d she seems more comfortable in _for some days-So like the Apostle Paul I "Thank God and take courage" - I hope you are all very well Daisy dear-I wish I could give you a real good hug, and kiss your sweet eyes- did I ever tell you that?- well I tell you now, - don't let me make you vain- Give a lot of love to your parents & kiss them for me.-mother says give lots of love from her to you and all-
Affectionately but hurriedly Aunt L____
