Stony Brook, July 1st. `58
My dear Sir,
It is gratifying to hear from you, and also that you made an offer for some of my stray children and found them in good condition. Although. they are in good hands, I should have been well pleased, had you purchased them. I have been using the brush about a fortnight (after two months and a half spent in tinkering at other matters). I hope from this time to give more attention to painting. Fish enough to
be had for the trouble but I have not been out this season. I shall be pleased to see you at the Stony Brook Hotel (where I am at present) when it will best suit your convenience. Give my best regards to your mother.
Wm. S. Mount.
