Portable Studio Setauket L.l.
June 9th, 1864
My dear friend,
I accept with great pleasure your gift of the "Waldo Panels"--seventeen in number. The surface of some of them will require to be put in order before I can use them, and being near to Nunns' Piano Factory-one side can be planed off(a perfect level surface) and colored to the tone required at my studio. Therefore I will thank you to send them wrapped and tied up with paper (The large panels inside and the smaller outside) so they will not attract attention on board-and directed to Wm S. Mount. Setauket-care of Capt. Hutchinson, Sloop Glide (Packet), Port Jefferson, Li. and I will pay you when we meet. An act of kindness is appreciated by some individuals. "Bless the lord, 0 my soul, and forget not all his benefits."
Your design for the frame is a good one and very complimentary. You might substitute in the left hand corner apples and grapes in place of box trap-as it will be repeating the traps in the picture-or you can introduce a quail or partrages, or a wood chuck, skunk, or fox somewhere about the frame-as they have seen and felt a trap. Have the heads without the bodies as you have marked out-or a young rabbit running, as you have marked out.
The "Tease" is improved, I have already work a week upon it.
Wm. S. Mount
The Packet sails on Friday for Port Jefferson. Place package on board Thursday 18th.
