My dear Uncle Wm.,
I enclose a letter which was handed me yesterday. It is from Mr John Gardner, who has some influence at Washington and who seems willing to exercise it in your behalf. He wishes you to have the painting of the Eastern stair case of the Senate Chamber. I hope you will not refuse it. I would delight in having the name of Mount chronicled in living characters at Washington.
So far as I can be of service to you in reading up or copying the history referred to, I shall be most happy.-Do reply soon- You had better direct to John M Gardner,
D C- "You can also write to M.E. Thompson
In haste, Yours
"LIB- `Friday Morning-"
