My dear Sir,
I am quite anxious to know if my violin arrived safe at the Patent Office. If my patent will date from the time of my first application-say the 2d of Jan. 1852-or from the time I delivered you the model, Feb. 23. 1852, or when my letters patent are made out at the Patent Office in Washington [pls. 3 1-33]. Please drop me a line on the subject, so that I shall see clear as a diamond. Give my regards to your partner Wm. Dodge Esqr.
Yours very truly
Wm. S. Mount
P.S. I expect to be in the City in about ten days.
