Wm Schaus Esqr.
In April 1853 you gave me an order too paint you a full length portrait of Hon. Daniel Webster, consequently about a year ago I commenced the picture nd in order to make it the more interesting I have introduced in all four figures - Webster has a "Majestic presence' and is contrasted by the introduction of the other secondary figures.
-The frame maker writes me that the frame is ready. If you wish to see the painting & make arrangements to have it engraved - providing it has the proper qualities, I will take it to New York on the receipt of your letter.
-You might inquire if Mr. Stetson, of the Astor House is in town-
