The trustees of this Institution propose to open to the public their
First Annual Exhibition of Works of Art
On MONDAY, the 19th day of MAY next.
`The subjects of exhibition will consist of works of Living artists, in Painting, Sculpture including Models in Plaster, and Architectural Design or Model.s, and) must be sent to the
Athenaeum before the 5th day of May.
Such a description as shall be suitable for insertion in the Catalogue, in the usual form, with the Artist's name and address, the price, if for sale, and the place where it is to be returned, should at the same time be communicated it is to be returned,
The expense of transportation and return will be borne by the Athenaeum, but no expense or risk will he paid or assumed by it, except on the works forwarded by its own agents, or by those whom this circular is addressed. All loss or injury must be reported to the Committee within one month after the close of the Exhibition.
The Exhibition will continue from six to eight weeks. during which time no work can be removed front the Gallery, but will remain in charge of the Committee.
The Institution will be pleased to receive on loan any original work of art of merit in your possession. of the character above mentioned ; and you are requested to forward to the Chairman of the Committee a list of the works you intend to exhibit., with the size, inclusive of the frame, in order -that they may be sent for by the porters of the Athenaeum..
