August 24th 1825 Dear Brother,
It is with a heavy heart and trembling hands I undertake to inform you of the heavy affliction I am under. My wife was buried at nine o clock this morning. She has left an infant, a son, five weeks and three days old. The mail is now waiting which oblidgees me to close without informing you of the particulars of her death.
I wish you to inform father and all my friends of my heavy affliction.
Your Affectionate Brother
