Having been absent in Queens County, I have just been notified of the arrival of your note books & panels, and kind expressions for my future success in art.
The paintings of the panels will prevent their immediate use. The paint must be thoroughly dry before sketching upon.

I have sent you by sloop today a flood of panels and some books. I inquired at Harpers and at Wiley's, but they did not know of a life of Turner. So I have put things in which I hope will interest or amuse you now to your Studio, and turn the panel into a couple of thousand dollars this winter, and make us all marvel as we look at the Academy walls next spring.
