Brother Shep
Received your letter by Mr. Brewster and was very glad to hear that you did not take the money of Charles as he was in want of it; and even now if he is want of it you may tell him that he may keep it longer - I have nothing strange or wonderful to write to you, it is thought that we shall have a canal Celebration on the 4 of next month. The Old State House has been pulled down - You must make up your mind Brother whether you are ever to set up your business or not, ands let me know as it may make some difference about my learning the trimming business. Not that it is my wish that you should ever give up painting by any measure. You may write me a line or two if you will. When Mr. B. returns give my best respect to Charles and Sister Ruth. Don't forget to say something about Brother Henry's and Williams paintings.
I am brother Shep a well wisher for your health and happiness, and also for your future eminence as a painter
