Dear Uncle,
I received your very good letter a day or two ago. I am very sorry that you cannot come to Buffalo, for it would do rue good to see how wel you would be received-i have read many flattering notices of your last picture. I am only sorry that I could not see It- Buffalo has been very gay this winter-under other circumstances I could have enjoyed this very much-You will of course wish to know what the circumstances are. I I will tell you when I have an opportunity of telling you verbally-which will be very soon-since I have formed a resolution at variance with the one I sent you-I intend making ~ visit of a month or two at home- and shall start front here about the 5th of March-I shall bring my attempts at Art with me-I am in fine Health and weigh 178 pounds-You see I have grown some. Capt. Bulus sends his regards-my love to all
-Yours &c
