"national Academy of Design,
In council Nov. 30th, 1868.
The Council of the National Academy of hears with deep regret of the death of their fellow member, Wm. Sidney Mount, N.A. so long associated with this Institution as one of its earnest workers and cherished ornaments.
We remember with great interest the many productions of his pencil, in which incidents of domestic and rustic life have been delineated with marked originality, and vivid, truthful character; and we believe they will always be treasured for their invaluable qualities.
As a friend he was greatly endeared to us buy his frank, cheerful and manly character, the wit and humor which brightened his social hours, and by the geniality and warmth of disposition which pervaded his daily life.
We sincerely sympathize with the family in the double affliction they have sustained by the loss of two brothers so admired for their talents, and beloved for their kindly virtues -
By order of the Council
