Having formally accepted your willingness that your portrait might be exhibited in the N. Academy of Design. I now write you on the subject asking the favor of your influence with the Common Council for the loan of the portrait for eight or nine weeks.
I have written to John L. Morton Secretary of then N.A. and I escpect the portrait will be called for the first of next week.

I have this day written to the Mayor of Brooklyn for the loan of his portrait (Painted for the Common Council of Brooklyn) to exhibit in the N. Academy, and I will thank you to send to the Mayors Office at ten O, clock upon any day for it-
The portrait hangs in the Council room of the same building
