My dear Daisy
I have been trying to recall your many unanswered questions - I can recall nothing but your repeated query as to Edith's wedding- She had no wedding & was married in the Roman Catholic chapel in New York - which adjoins the RC Cathedral. Mr. Douglas after being two years in the General Theologian _Seminary in N.Y. embrace the R.C. faith not withstanding his father was an Episcopal clergyman & his

Mother, sister and brothers were greatly opposed to his forsaking _ & following the Pope.
Edith was devoted to her own Episcopal service - in our dear little Stony Brook Chapel she's attended all services through cold & storm & heat & seemed very happy with it - Twas far more of a trial for he to leave L.I. than it was for Maria - I think M_ was glad to go - Mr. MH.D. may be the original "Douglas tender and true" though he does not look it!

Malcolm - a physician in Philadelphia who it seems to me is exceedingly genial & jolly. He came to Stony Brook in a run about auto. Called in with Edith with Edie & invited Nina & me to try the new way of getting over the ground - Nina could not go - & insisted upon my trying it! as I had declared I would never patronize the horrid "juggernaut" & I hesitated. The Dr. urged & finally I accepted with fear & trembling- Consoling myself with the thought that if anything happened & we were shipwrecked on land, the Dr would if uninjured know how to pick up the fragments of poor me!.

I have simply, without consulting you subscribed to the "Woman's National Daily" just the nicest condensed item of a Daily. As I did this on the spur of the moment not realizing till after I had sent your address & the required dollar that a daily in the city might not be as conveniently cheap as a daily in the country if you are compelled to pay extra for delivery - I thought it would be nice & neighborly to be reading the "W W D" you & I ___forgive one for
