My Brother wishes me to have my portrait taken provided it can be done for $75- I know I have an ugly phiz to paint, and the limit is low for an artist of your merit. But if you think you can afford to paint my likeness for that price I would prefer you to any living American Artist. My Brother wishes me taken in uniform, and you will of course stay at my
house if that arangement is agreeable to you.
I am expecting orders for Sea soon-and would be obliged to you for an early answer. With kind regards
